# No One Understands This Stuff

> No one really knows how anything works in a modern computer.

But what do we do about that?

Also - There is always a critical perl script somewhere that no one understands. I joined a pure Micrsoft, 100% (it wasn't) .Net shop with 25 years of Microsoft solutions on Internet Information Services, with MSSQL databases.

When I brought code inventory to the organization, there was a critical perl script.

It might not literally be a perl script, but you each have my personal guarantee that something neither of us would ever suspect is sitting somewhere forgotten doing critical load-bearing work.

So what can we do about that?

# Everyone Hates Change

> Our job is to bring change, which is something that every rational person hates.

How do we make change suck less?
